De Duitse beeldend kunstenaar Albers, was al  in 1920 bij het Bauhaus betrokken. Als invloedrijk kunstenaar was hij bovendien één van de laatste docenten van dit belangrijke kunstopleidingscentrum. Toen het Bauhaus door de nazi's in 1933 werd gesloten, werd hem gevraagd om les te komen geven op het nieuw gevormde Black Mountain College in de Verenigde Staten. Alberts werd ook daar een van de meest bekende en invloedrijke kunstleraren. De Bauhaus ideeën vonden door hem meer ingang in de VS.

The german artist Albers belongs to the Bauhaus since 1920. As an influential artist he belongs to one of the last teachers of this very important art-education centrum. When the Nazis closed the Bauhaus in 1933, the just found Black Mountain College in the United States asked him to give lesson. Alberts became also their one of the most important and famous art teacher. The Bauhaus ideas became accepted in the USA due to his efforts. 

In his own work he focused himself priamrily on the systematic research of the interaction between colors. Along the systematic and mechanic works, most paintings contains a mysterical, enormous varity of tuning and color.
