De
laatste paar werken was ik een beetje in de war. Maar goed
het zal wel de euforie zijn van de 1.000 kunstwerken, maar
het in 48/100 aangekondige werk van Jean Hélion komt
definitief niet uit.
Een paar
jaar voor zijn dood maakte Hans Hofmann het werk Rijzende
Maan. In dit werk komt een haast perfecte cirkel, een gele
maan, voor. Het werk is opmerkelijk daar hij eigenlijk nooit
cirkels schilderde. De reden blijft voor mij een raadsel,
misschien is het een metafoor voor het leven dat ten einde
loopt. De werken van Hofmann zijn veelal helder van kleur en
structuur. Hij zag het als de taak van de kunstenaar om
gevoelens en reacties ten aanzien van licht en kleur op het
tweedimensionale doek over te brengen. De natuur was voor
hem de bron van alle inspiratie.
Als
Europees docent aan kunstacademies in Amerika bracht hij het
abstract expressionisme over op duizenden studenten. Het
werk Rijzende Maan nogmaals is mijn inziens geïnspireerd
door de Koude Oorlog, daar ik heel sterk Europa, Rusland en
Afrika herken in dit werk. |
I was confused a little bit the last few weeks. May be as
result of the euphoria of the 1.000 artworks, but I will definitive not
make the in 48/100 announced artwork of Jean Hélion.
A few years before his dead, Hans Hofmann made the work
Rising Moon. In this work you will find an almost perfect yellow moon. The
work is remarkable because he acutally never painted a circle. The reason
that he painted the circle is for me a mystery, probably he painted it as
metaphor for the end of life. The works of Hofmann have most of the time
bright colours and clear structures. Nature was his inspiration, he said
the following about this: "Nature's purpose in relation to the visual
arts is to provide stimulus- not imitation. ... From its ceaseless urge to
create springs all Life - all movement and rhythm - time and light, color
and mood - in short, all reality in Form and Thought.
As European
teacher on art academies in America he taught abstract expressionisme to
at least thousands students. Finally, I think that he made the work Rising
Moon inspired by the Cold War because I can easily recognize Europe,
Russia and Africa.
