In de zomer van 2000 reisde ik langs alle hoofdsteden van de Europese lidstaten om de beelden te vinden van Europa van voor de Big Bang. Samen met zo'n 750 mensen, maakte ik het eerste People's Art kunstwerk in de geschiedenis. Dit kunstwerk is uniek; het laat de behoeftes, emoties en de fantasieën van 750 mensen in de verschillende Europese lidstaten zien voordat zij worden opgeslokt door de European Community op 1 januari 2002 wanneer we zullen starten met het gebruik van een eenheidsmunt de Euro.

De Big Bang 

De Euro zal alle munten van de oude culturen van Europa verorberen. De verschillende Europese landen hebben gevochten als leeuwen (Nederland), Arenden (Duitsland), Hanen (Frankrijk) enz. om te verdedigen en aan te vallen, te doden en te bevrijden in naam van hun eigen God en hun natie. De vlag en de munt representeert de natie. De waarde van de munt is een nauwkeurige instrument waarmee de situatie in een land wordt weergegeven. Dat is waarom de Engelse en de Denen niet deel willen nemen aan de Euro, omdat zij niet een deel van hun identiteit willen verkopen, waarvoor zij generatie na generatie hard voor hebben gewerkt. Dat is waarom ik de erfenis heb verzamelt van de mensen voordat het einde begint. In de geschiedenis van de mensheid zijn er altijd datums gekozen waarop er dingen veranderde. Zeer vaak markeerde de geboorte of de dood een nieuw begin. 1 Januari 2002 zal de geboorte van de European Community zijn. Na deze datum zullen we meer homogeen worden. Het landschap van diversiteit  / variatie zal veranderen in een vlak en ongevarieerd polderlandschap. Ik weet dat het al deels zo ver is met de kolonisatie van Europa door de Amerikaanse Marschall hulp van na 1945. Hedendaagse bedrijven zoals MTV, CNN, Mac Donalds, Coca Cola, etc, zorgen voor de samenvloeiing van de verschillende intellectuele erfenissen in een nieuwe Europese standaard. Ik wil me hierbij niet verklaren tegen of voor de European Community, maar ik wil wel graag een objectieve mening geven over de toekomst, omdat ik geen politicus ben, maar een kunstenaar. Maar feiten liegen niet..

De Schilderijen

De schilderijen zijn gemaakt door doodgewone mensen met allemaal hun eigen verhaal, naam en adres. Ik vind dit belangrijk omdat heden ten dage een kunstwerk zonder data geen kunstwerk meer is in deze datatijdperk. Een mens zonder 0 en 1, genen en chromosomen is geen mens. In feite zijn we de meest geavanceerde computer ooit gebouwd. Een kunstwerk samen met de data is als kunstwerk net zo onbetaalbaar als jij zelf. De schilderijen in combinatie met de data is zo belangrijk omdat het ons leert wie wat gemaakt heeft en welke kleuren hij of zij graag gebruikt, etc. Het kunstwerk is een visueel resultaat van de inzet van mensen om dit unieke kunstwerk te maken, waaruit wij kunnen leren dat de gemiddelde participant liever een figuratief kunstwerk maakt dat een abstract kunstwerk. Ik heb gekozen voor doodgewone mensen in plaats van  bijvoorbeeld kunstenaars omdat volgens Plato's lessen, iedereen wordt geboren met de zelfde cognitie. Door onderwijs wordt de cognitieve kracht van kunstenaars in de westerse wereld meer dan extreem geslepen. Om een autonoom kunstwerk te maken, heb ik deze homogeniteit van deze geesten geprobeerd te doorbreken door mensen te vinden met een authentieke beeldenwereld.

Dit kunstwerk is een nieuw iconoclassistische benadering waarmee ik de betekenis van kunst herdefinieer. Veel schilderijen op de auto laat ons harten, vlaggen, flora en fauna zien . Het meest abstracte kunstwerk, is het deels figuratieve werk gemaakt door de 80% blinde vrouw Marie Tys uit Brussels, zij noemde haar werk "De kleuren van mijn leven". Een ander zeer interessant werk is het werk "Krassen" gemaakt door Ketola Olli uit Vasa in Finland. Deze 6 jaar oude jongen maakte een kunstwerk op een spectaculaire eenvoudige wijze door simpelweg een vlak zwart te schilderen alvorens hij met de achterzijde van de penseel een huis, een vliegtuig en een auto uitkraste.

Het Einde

Tenslotte zal het kunstwerk het einde van het Authentieke Europa inluiden, het kunstwerk zal als een mijlpaal in de toekomst fungeren daar we doormiddel van deze 750 afzonderlijke schilderijen kunnen terug reizen naar voor 1-1-2002, even na het begin van een nieuw millennium en een nieuwe civilisatie.

In the summer of 2000 I travelled to all capitals of the European memberstates to gather the pictures from Europe before the Big Bang. Together with 750 people I made the first People's Art artwork in history. This artwork is an unique painting which shows the needs, thoughts, emotions and the imagination of 750 people of the different European Countries before they will be swallowed by the European Community on 1 January 2002 when we will start to use one currency: the Euro.

The Big Bang 

The Euro will swallow the currencies of the old cultures of Europe. The several European countries fighted like Lions (Netherlands), Eagles (Germany), Cocks (French) and so on to defend and to conquer, to kill and to free in the name of their God and their nation. The flag and the coin represent the nation. The value of the coin is a graduate scale for the state of a nation. That is why the British and the Danish people do not want to take part in the Euro, because they do not want to sell a part of their identity for which they have worked hard generations after generations. That is why I wanted to gather the heritage of the people before the end begins. In history people have always chosen a date on which things changed. Very often a person's birth or death marks a new beginning. 1 January 2002 will be the day of birth of the European Community. After this date we will become more homogeneous. The landscape of diversity / variety will change into a flat and unvaried polderlandscape. I know that it has already started with the colonizations of Europe caused by the American Marshall-plan after 1945. New multinationals like MTV, CNN, Mac Donalds, Coca Cola, etc, caused a meltdown of the intellectual heritage of the different cultures into a new European heritage. I do not mean that I am in favour of or against the European Community, I only want to give an objective view of the future, because I am not an politician; I am just an artist. But facts do not lie.

The Paintings 

The paintings made by ordinary people all have a story, a title, a name and an address, because an artwork without data is not reliable anymore in this data-society. A human without 0 en 1, genes and chromosomes is not a human. In fact we are the most artificial computer ever build. Especially in the era of data-communication it is important to have those data. An artwork together with the data is a priceless artwork as invaluable as you are. The pictures in combination with the data is so important because it shows us what the participants made, how many people painted, which colours they preferred, etc. The artwork is a visual result of the effort people made to make this unique artwork which shows that average people prefer figurative art more than abstract art. I have chosen for ordinary people instead of artists because Plato said, that everybody is born with the same cognition. Through education, the cognitive power of artists in the western world became more extremely shaped. To achieve an autonomous art-work which breaks through the homogeneity of those minds, I chose to find people with authentic pictures

This artwork is a new iconoclastic concept which redefines the meaning of art. Many paintings on the car shows hearts, flags, flora and fauna. The most abstract artwork but still a figurative artwork is made by an 80% blind women, named Marie Tys from Brussels, who called here work "The colour of my live". Another very interesting artworks is "Scratch" made by Ketola Olli from Vasa in Finland. This 6 years old boy made an artwork with an exceptional simplicity by just painting a square totally black before he scratched a house, an airplane and a car with the back of his pencil.

The End

Last but not least the car will herald the end of Authentic Europe, the artwork will become a time-statue to which future generations can travel back in time by watching the 750 paintings on this artwork made on the confine of a new millennium and a new civilization.

In Stockholm I parked my Artwork the first day in front of the Culturhuset and the second day in front of the Modern Museet. At the Culturhuset I parked my Artwork between market booths at the square in front of the Culturhuset. I had a good place and soon I had the first row of artworks finished. At the way back from Helsinki, I parked my Artwork during the evening at the other side of the Culturhuset square where I had much more space. At the ferry from Helsinki to Stockholm I tried to rest in a cabin without paying by sneaking in a room directly after it was cleaned, in the hope that nobody reserved that room. Unfortunately, they caught me and I had to run to the decks with the tail between my legs where I stayed in the hope that they would not recognize me. After a while I decided to lay down in the Sauna and it satisfied.
